Loving Skin Naturally with Castile Soaps

Every bath using Casa de Lorenzo Castile Soaps brings you closer to nature, literally.

We take pride in using ingredients from nature to make the best possible natural clean for your skin. Our goal is to keep it simple and natural. Fundamentally, Casa de Lorenzo Castile Soaps contain only water, oils and essential oils. The oils undergo saponification, where they turn into soaps through the aid of alkali, water and heat. This is the traditional way of making soaps, as has been done centuries ago.

The natural ingredients of our soaps and our blending expertise ensures the perfect natural clean for your skin type without drying your skin. Our Moisturizing Castile Soap is very gentle and absolutely moisturizing, its perfect for babies and those with sensitive skin. The Cleansing Castile Soap strikes an amazing balance between cleaning and moisturizing your skin, perfect for everyday use. Our Dark Castile Soap is like the Cleansing variant, only this one has coffee scrubs and real coffee that cleans, energizes and tightens skin. The Manila Castile Soap is made to match the demands of Filipino skin experiencing the tropical heat, Philippine traffic and the effects of daily commute.

Our essential oils mixed with the soaps provide a pleasant experience to the senses as well as its added benefits to your skin and well-being. These are concentrated plant extracts that give distinct benefits other than just smell.

By using our soaps, not only will you be using a biodegradable and earth-friendly product. You are also letting nature care and pamper for your skin.

Using the DiY Castile Soap Bundle

Customize and make your own natural soap with Casa de Lorenzo DiY Castile Soap bundle. Mix in anything you’d like to add and have it your way. You can add fruit extracts, green tea, beer, honey or even melted chocolate. Your imagination is the only limit to making your very own soap.

Directions:
  1. Pour Casa de Lorenzo Liquid Castile Soap in a clean bowl (stainless, ceramic, or glass will do).
  2. Put your chosen additives and mix well. Limit your additives from 5-15% of total volume. Example: 90% Liquid Castile Soap and 10% brewed green tea.
  3. If you’re adding fruit juices or extracts you squeezed out yourself, make sure you strain it before mixing. If you’re adding tea, you may brew it first in reduced water before adding (ex: 4 tea bags in 1 cup of water). If you’re adding honey or beer, just mix it in. You may even choose to put tea leaves or herbs directly on to the soap and let it stay for 24-48 hours before straining out the leaves (but a week is better).
  4. Put a few drops of essential oils to scent your soap and mix really well. A mixer or wire whisk can help things go faster. Sometimes essential oils can thicken the soap when added, all you need to do is just add a little water and mix well until you reach the desired consistency.
  5. Once done, put it in a dispenser and start enjoying your soap!
  6. Since what you’d be using are all organic ingredients (they can spoil over time) and we’re not recommending putting preservatives on soaps, make sure you make small batches at a time and use it up for one or two so your soap won’t go bad.
  7. Any questions? Email us at order@thecasadelorenzo.com or give us a call: 0939-919-2916 (Smart) or 0917-608-1219 (Globe).

Pili and Passionfruit Seed Oil Soaps

Every year, we try to come up with something different. Something we haven't really done before and something really distinct. Its a tradition we've been doing for the past few years, even before we've started selling soaps. This year, we made bar soaps made of Pili Oil and Passionfruit Seed Oil, along with Coconut and Palm Oils.

We wanted something very local, but at the same time having an exotic appeal. So we decided its time to use the Passionfruit seed oil we've extracted some time ago and we got ourselves some Pili pulp oil. The result is a very expensive and very exotic bar soap that is cleansing and at the same time very moisturizing.

Since the price prohibits us from making a lot, and there's not much source of passionfruit seed oil locally, we've decided its going to our private holiday giveaway. Hopefully, in the near future we can start making soaps with rare oils like the one on the bars we've just made.

Our Newest: Coffee Castile Soap

We're proud to announce the release of our newest liquid soap variant: the Dark Castile Soaps. As it's name implies, it is darker than the usual soaps we make. One might be shocked at the contents of every Dark Castile Soap bottle because it is literally almost black. But don't be fooled by appearances, .

The first among the variants is the Coffee Dark Castile. For our love of coffee, the way it wakes us up during mornings, and how it makes us jumpstart our day, we thought we'd carry that over in the shower. We've been trying to make this soap happen for more than a year now, and it was just recent that we're satisfied with it so we're now sharing it to everyone.

We're Crazy About Coffee!

Like millions of people around the world, we're taking our love for coffee to the next level!

Us here at Casa de Lorenzo, makers of Liquid Castile Soap in the Philippines, are brewing something that will change the way everyone will wake up to mornings. We know that coffee is an important part of our every day life, and we've seen how coffee has been a distinct part of our history back in the Spanish days so we've decided to make coffee enjoyable as well in our products.

Did you know that the Philippines used to be a top producer of coffee in the world? Our country used to grow Liberica coffee, known to produce bigger beans and stronger coffee aroma and flavor, thus the "Kapeng Barako" name was coined to the coffee grown in the southern part of Luzon.

Watch out very soon for the newest addition to our natural products.

Our Fascination with Natural Soaps

Cheesy may it sound, our soaps come from a deep respect and fascination of nature. Many would not understand how real soaps are made, all that everyone sees is an amber bottle labeled castile soap from us. To the ones who enjoy our products, we'd like you to know more about it. For the ones who are still pondering to try, read on, you might see a good reason why.

Our castile soaps are made from oils. Not added with oils, but made from oils. All fatty substances can be made into soap, and depending on the oils used, a soap can either be highly moisturizing, bubbly or a highly cleansing one. Olive Oil soap can condition the skin, Coconut Oil soap is very cleansing to the point it can dry out the skin, and Palm Oil soap can be a very boring one on its own. However, mixing them together in the right amounts, you get something wonderful. We stick around with what Mother Nature offers and stay close to it. Casa de Lorenzo Castile Soaps itself are proof of this.

Super-Moisturize Your Castile Soaps

Image from Mix97
To a lover of Natural Products, more likely than not, you've known that Castile Soaps are awesome in moisturizing and taking care of the skin, depending on how the soap has been made. But of course there is a way of increasing the moisturizing properties of your Natural Soaps.

First, you have to understand how this works.

Every bottle or bar of soap is a delicate balance, thus the soapmaker has to have considerable experience in making soaps, aside from some functional knowledge of chemistry and a lot of patience. Most liquid soaps are on the sweet spot that lies between too much oil and too much lye. Here is where the skill of the soapmaker is essential, as well as the knowledge of what oils to use so the desired effect of the soap can be attained. Coconut Oils are super cleansing when made into soap, Olive oil is very moisturizing and Palm Oil creates very good lather. To create a good soap, these know-hows are all applied.

Using Citrus Oils on Natural Soaps

Citrus Oils are known to be phototoxic, especially Bergamot and Lime Essential Oils. Phototoxic means when the essential oil is placed on the skin and exposed to the sun, a chemical reaction is triggered and can cause severe burns. Since Citrus Oils are believed to be phototoxic, people avoid using them on skin products.

Benefits of Castile Soap

All over the world, people know about Castile Soap. In Europe, it has been used for centuries by almost everyone, from peasants to royalty. Now, it has been made more available to everyone and with the globalization phenomenon plus the wealth of information in cyberspace, Castile Soap has reached every country in the planet.

What makes Castile Soap so special? Well, true Castile Soaps are made from Olive Oil, but soaps made from natural oils are considered Castile Soaps nowadays. Any soap made with Olive Oil is an amazing soap. It is highly moisturizing because of a high level of emollients and unsaponifiable materials that help seal moisture in skin, thus making it very soft. Some people even claim that you won't need to use lotion after bathing.
